I’m assuming that WordPress reminds everyone else what they posted this time last year, or the year before that, or ten years ago or whatever. It can be painful.
I look at mine in the hope of uncovering some sort of gem that has aged well. Alas. No such gem has presented itself.
My writing is no worse now. Nor is it any better. Less prolific perhaps.
But, anyway – its Fathers Day here in Oz and this time six years ago I wrote a little piece for my own father, though even then he was in no position to read it.
As an act of deliberate laziness I reproduce it again today with only small editorial changes.

Hello, Dad
Your day. Again
Don’t think
That I’ve forgotten when
You held me in your arms
So tight
And read me fairy tales
At night
Protected me
From what you knew
Gently told me
What to do
Slowly told me
What was true
So I might one day
Be like you

By way of contrast my own boys, both middle aged men now, sent me a card with a briefer message.
It is reproduced above.
Cool. I don’t know why this appeared since Father’s Day was long ago, but loved it anyway🙄😂

You Americans! You think you make all the rules! Your Fathers Day may have been long ago, but ours was yesterday.

Well, maybe “we Americans” don’t think we make all the rules, but our “”Leader”” (!) sure thinks he does.
Happy Day-Late Father’s Day!

Thank you Nan! I don’t think ‘your leader’ really understands the concept of ‘rules’, but it’s only a matter of time before a few are very clearly explained to him.
