That’s Raffles Hotel in Singapore, which remains an icon long after the British moved out. That day, coincidentally, was the 100th birthday of the ‘Singapore Sling’ – a cocktail created by the hotel. The night before we visited ‘Fatty’s’ Restaurant where I first ate about 60 years ago which was not only celebrating its 100th birthday but, sadly, its last day of operations.
